Help answer this question below.

I have a compaq laptop and the volume buttons don't work when i hit them so i have to open the volume controles to change the volume. The volume controles are buttons and not a wheel and it hasent worked for a while now and I'am wondering what i can do

    I am not sure if your laptop is set up like nearly every laptop I've seen, but most I've seen are Fn+(arrow key).

    If they are separate buttons though, I can think of three possibilities.
    1) Disconnected buttons; take your lappie apart and make sure the buttons are connected.
    2) Busted buttons; replace them.
    3) Missing driver; your OS has no idea what those buttons mean.
