  • They want to go back into their mommie's womb. When it was easier to get the government to bend over backwards for what they wanted: Gravytrain for big business. In other words they want the Good Ol' Days. In all it's filth and hypocrisy. Let them Secede.
  • Lol, White racists who don't like the president cause he's black....I love how far liberals are actually going with all this and how much folks are actually going along with it. Folks would rather follow their ridiculous media than follow their own brothers...and sisters of course. And by brothers and sister, I mean their own friends and family.
  • Seriously??? We disagree with his policies. Nothing to do with skin color. The race card game is getting old now. I can give you a list of black men who I would love to see as President if you like.
  • It means exactly that, the National Front extremist parties in Europe have the same slogans and want the same thing. It is pure racism and lacks understanding of globalisation and movements of the people. It is immigrants that make countries stronger through hard work and long hours, while locals go on benefits.
  • So if you disagree with a black president, you are a racist? However, black people who hated Bush and his policies weren't racists, right? It's just those evil, hate-filled, Wal-Mart shopping, white Republicans who are the racists. Let me tell you something Rosie, this is one of the *weakest* responses the liberal left can use to defend Obama. It makes your side appear desperate. It makes Obama and the liberal left seem weak when you go and call everyone a racist who disagrees with him. Did you ever hear any of these so-called racists on the Right disparaging Condoleeza Rice? Or Colin Powell? Or Clarence Thomas? They're all blacks, aren't they? But you know who brutally savaged these African-Americans? It was the Left. They were called Uncle Toms, and "house slaves", not by those evil, hate-filled Republicans, but by the enlightened, tolerant, all-loving, all-knowing liberals who *hated* them because they were conservatives who happened to be black. They were traitors, in the eyes of the Liberals. Stop with all the race-baiting. Seriously. It's your side that is making it an issue of race, not Conservatives.
  • Can't agree, Rosie. Many of those "white people" voted for that "African-American". They have become disillusioned. I did not vote for him. Why? Because I had hardly heard of him. I tried to find out everything I could about him when he became a "front runner" in his party.. I found nothing that impressed me as being credentials for the Presidency of the United States. I listened carefully to his speeches...I was not impressed. He fumbled the ball many times...and could not seem to focus on a program that could be identified. He seemed glued to his teleprompter. He was a total flop when answering questions from the "floor". If they were not in his script, he had no answer. "Change" was the only thing that seemed to come through. That is an oldy...and is a meaningless word. That is essentially how the previous Demo candidate got elected. "Change". Well we got change, but I did not care for it and neither did half of the rest of the country. Probably more than half, but so many do not even vote now that it is hard to tell. It seems more people are either apathetic or simply feel their vote is of no consequense. In fact, I think the Demos depend on those non-voters not voting more than they do on registered voters, because when they do decide to turn out, they are overwhelmingly conservative.
  • Is that the best they can come up with? They want to change an entire government because the president is black? Whether or not you agree with Obama should be based on his policies (or your view of them), not his skin color. This might explain their thinking. http://www.clubs.psu.edu/up/sayar/riqs.htm If they hate it so bad, they can move somewhere else -- their own little white island. The rest of the United States would be better off without their moronic way of thinking anyway.
  • The way they see it, "creeping socialism" is taking over the country. They have the misconception that the goverment is going, kicking down the doors and taking over businesses (when in reality it was the businesses going to the gevernment, often in fancy transportation, asking for help).
  • What I love is that it's their(conservative) country and liberals running it aren't Americans. Typical I'm right, you're wrong, how dare you believe differently than me attitudes. Not sure it's entirely based on race, although his race is used to motivate quite a bit of the conservative "base."
  • Rosie, I'm going to have to respectfully disagree with you on this one. It is just as silly to lump all those who disagree with Obama's policies into one big white racist category, as it is to lump all liberals into the category of evil whiny socialists. It is certainly true that there are those who don't like Obama because he is black, but it is also true that there are many who voted for him simply because he is. Am I a racist because I don't think that Obama is a great president? What about the black people who are crying "take our country back" as well? (They are out there, I've met them) Personally, I think that accusing those who want to "take the country back" of racism is doing a disservice to the democratic process. Remember when the neocons in power said that you were unpatriotic, anti-Christian, etc. for disagreeing with Bush? I didn't like being called unpatriotic for taking a stand against him, and I don't like being called racist for not supporting Obama. I've tried to pay attention to the debate surrounding Obama as objectively as possible. You have to, when you come from a political background like mine, and from my observations and from being in the field, I can tell you that the vast majority of the "take our country back" crowd are definitely not racists. Like I said before, it is very true that the racists do exist, and they are very loud, but you cannot claim that everyone who wants to "take the country back" is racist. Now, a disclaimer to anyone who comments on this. I am not looking for a fight or a debate, nor am I looking for a discussion on what my politics actually are, unless it winds up being relevant to the discussion. For every example of conservative hypocrisy, I can find an example of liberal hypocrisy, and vice versa, so please refrain from posting links to websites where supposed conservatives are ranting about Obama's race. If we can keep it clean, respectful, and helpful, I'll gladly discuss any comments though, but as soon as it turns ugly, I'm gone. EDIT: To answer the question more directly, I believe that "we want our country back" in most cases means "we want our country back from politicians who have been progressively establishing a more dominant centralized government."
  • I think it has to do with being a liberal or a Marxist in which Obama is both. Taking the country back from left wing moonbats is not racist. I am an African American who does not like the direction our country is going.
  • with all due respect..as a Repubican when I say we want our country back..I am not speaking about race..I am speaking about the old fashioned conservative values that made our country great..I also believe that immigrants today are being made the scapegoats of our bad economy..when my grandparents came to this country all they had to do was go thrugh Ellis island and cough for the doctor..immigration built this country and now it is deemed evil..We have taken God out of our schools..we have made it more and more difficult for law abiding people to get guns for protection, while criminals have no problem buying illegal guns..Race is not an issue with me..abortion on demand..condoms being handed out in school..I want my country back..and I will scream it from the rooftop.
  • To be honest i am not for sure what they want, the funny thing is they haven't had control of their country since 1913 when the Federal Reserve was made. Since then its just been a bunch of puppets dancing in front of the crowd distracting them from the real people in power.
  • Money is in power, Rosie; not "race". ;)
  • I think that some racists have grabbed onto the "we want America back" slogan, but there are many others who use it with no racial intent. It's just become another slogan of the right wing.
  • Nice try..but the idea that the same country that elected a Black man for president is now racist because many voters disagree with his policies....nonsense! Some people have been using that tired old excuse for too long. The left disagrees with Clarence Thomas because he is conservative but the right can only disagree with Obama because they are racists.....yea right. Be sure to give me a zing because you don't like hearing the truth...also known among the left as "hate speech".
  • In the 70s and 80s the state and federal governments basically stayed out of our lives. There were no seatbelt laws, anti smoking laws, they didn't tell you how to raise your children, they didn't tell you what and what not to eat, the police were not as agressive, we didn't have to wear radiation suits to ride our bicycles, You didn't get arrested for assault for getting into a minor scrap, children weren't arrested for hugging another child, people worked and liked it, no one was suspicious of the poor old man feeding the pidgeons in the park next to the kids playing, we weren't suspicious of each other. The list of freedoms that have been taken away goes on and on and on..... The ones who scoff at those who say they want their country back never fully experienced the freedoms we once had. you know what? I WANT MY COUNTRY BACK!!
  • THE ONLY RACIST IS YOU!!! Nobody has a problem with his race. There are people that disagree with him on his views and dont support him.
  • Never heard it used that way. It means we want the Federal government to back off and stop the micromanagement of every nanosecond of our lives. To stop blowing our money, stop stealing it from us, stop the growing torrent of more and more restrictive laws they keep pouring out, and to stop grinding us down. To stop the Supreme Court legislating from the bench, to stop using Federal pressure and taxation as weapons for social engineering, and to stop violating the Constitution. In short, we want the government to leave us alone.
  • It is simply amazing to me that those who claim to be for the rights of all are ALWAYS the first to jump the color line.Who said we were prejudice?YOU,thats who. You put this crap out because you have nothing else to stand on.The man has not made one bit of difference since he's been in office.Well, except to make the deficit grow out of control. He is inept and that makes him dangerous. He cant even make his VP shut up. And at the base of this, the man is prejudice himself. Lest we forget his book, where he said he knew to get by he would have to disown his white heritage.
  • Run by the people, not the govronment.
  • I THINK IT'S THIS: folks who were just so clueless these past 8 years, they've finally awakened to find cheney's death squads. they've been frightened near to death and now we want them to THINK? sheep must be shepherded or frightened to move.
  • They mean to govern well, but they mean to govern. They promise to be kind masters, but they mean to be masters. ===Daniel Webster, in a treatise on tyranny.
  • Maybe "we" simply means the Republican Party?
  • Same-old same-old. The Obamabots cannot take criticism so they bring out the race-bait card. It's getting so overused that the charge of "racism" is quickly becoming totally meaningless and shall have no merit. Some of us are not keen on being "led" by a team of tax-cheats, 9/11 conspiracy nutcases, or by individuals who are beholden to parasitic constituencies. I've already got enough posts, with supporting links, about what this president and his minions are after in terms of total power. The working people who pay all the bills, for the first time in living memory, are dropping their silence and standing up for themselves.
  • That may be true for some people, but I don't think their protests are completely motivated by race. I'm sure some of the dissenters are ultra-conservatives who want to return to a Republican presidency and "family values".
  • Racism is the act of rendering negative moral judgement against someone based on skin color. My experience is that most of the racists in America are not white. Most middle class whites gave up on that nonsense about 40 years ago. I am white and I do not give a shit about skin color. I do give a shit about education and motivation. But I hear lots of people talk about racism, and they seem to be talking about white people like me. Thus they have made a negative judgement against me because I am white. Who is the racist in that case. The phrase, "we want our country back" simply means that some people do not want the government to control their lives. I do not want the government running my life. Does that make me a racist? Anyone who chooses to accuse me is welcome to, but while they are at it they can kiss my ass.
  • 'Left-wing writers spent the week droning on about how it's now racist to say "I want my country back." These amnesiacs are blissfully unaware that "taking back" America was the rallying cry of the Democratic Party for eight years under George W. Bush.' - Jonah Goldberg
  • I do not believe "We want our coutry back!" is a plea motivated by rascism. The majority of people have moved passed being rascist because it is obvious to even the most ignorant of society that rascism is superficial and wrong. It's as plan as the light of day, or the color of ones skin. The plea is unfortunately motivated by something much deeper than rascim...religion. The only force that convinces people to look past their basic rights afforded to them by a civil society (medical care, education, civil rights), and put all emphasis on ridding the US of the REAL evil...morally deficient, un-american, non-christian socialists. As long as everyone's scared into thinking that the U.S. is becoming the next Nazi Germany, everyone's heads are so far up their own butts that they don't realize that we pay more than any other industrialized nation for our healthcare...but you'd never know it by looking at our population since nearly 46 million Americans, or 18 percent of the population under the age of 65, were without health insurance in 2007. And those who DID have healthcare were lucky to not accuire a pre-existing condition that would send them spiraling into bankruptcy. Rascism isn't emotionally profound enough to make so many people think so backwards.
  • what does it matter, people suck at "leading" anyway...and were all african...
  • In America, we never had "apartheid." We had segregation. I miss it.
  • yo rtard its not white racist mean look at it the mai reason ppl voted obama in was beacause he was black and trust me i would have to if i was old enough being a halfa and all but now if you look at what has happened with him the stimulus the medical i think qwe should have voted for macain who wasnt a good choice either but he was the lesser of the two evils . i mean like i said ppl went out and asked ppl what they though about obama and they said i just want to be remembered for puting a black man into office. the same ppl asking that went out and made up fake things that obama stood for and they said yea i hink that is cool nobody knows what they are talking about anymore its not racism just a bad choice like many more to come for our civilization
