I won about $2500 once and then I won about $3200 playing 6/49 lottery in Canada. That amount was for having all 6 numbers (but one number was the 'bonus').

I won £100 on the National Lottery on 4 October 2006. I have yet to better that.
If you didn't win the lottery today, doesn't it make sense to buy twice as many tickets tomorrow?
