  • 8 hours a day you MUST get a 30 min. lunch break and 2 breaks UNLESS some emergency happens and it's cut short. This happens often at my job in a hospital. As for sue you can but it would probably be a waste of time and money because if it's a big company they have big lawyers. Good luck.
  • go to the web for your state labor commission and download the rules for your state. There are several labor rule posters that are required by the federal government on wages and OSHA That if not posted will result in fines. To sue, you must prove damages and the award will be limited to some multiple of the damages(loses) due to the violations. after the lawyer collects his fees you will get dimes on the dollar. However if your work site is snap inspected and found deficient and several years of former workers file complaints in support of the On GOING violations the fines could be costly to management. Most people just shut up and soldier and management/ownership gets away with it. Cell phones that have cameras can document a deficient situation for the inspectors and might get that snap inspection set up for you. get a numbered page lab notebook ( pre-numbered sewn pages to be a legal document) keep entries and have co workers sign it as well and every now and then have the current days page notarized. at your bank. Don't get caught, and if caught DO NOT SURRENDER the notebook to management.
  • I'm affraid there's not much money in such a suit. However, you can file a labor board complaint.
