What are all the transportation options on the Big Island of Hawaii?

    Rental cars are your best bet. There are tour buses. The public transportation is sparse and unreliable.

    Rental cars, boats from one side of the island to the other, tour bus services from one side of the island to the other, and light plane service from the Hilo Airport to the Kona side of the island.

    As information, I lived in the islands from 1981-92, and visited the Big Island, several times.

    Have a terrific time there!
