Yes, the Brits need a refuge at sea the same as the rest of us.
-
Absolutely they should.
-
Sure, they should. But they should not build only two of them but half a dozen of them, because Britain needs an excellent navy. I think Britain never can have enough aircraft carriers.
-
Yes =)

The Royal Navy needs as many aircraft carriers as possible, and two is not enough.Succesive government cuts have reduced to navy so much that we do not have enough surface vessels for a national emergency.Once we had one of the finest navies in the world,but now we have approximately 80 ships and 37,000 men and women to man them.Thinking back to the Falklands war,our troops had to go to war on Cruise Ships and since then our navy strength has been further depleted. God help us if there is ever another war!!
-
Absolutely, and we need more than two. Aircraft carriers are a great way to establish our dominance as a navel power because they are so powerful.

I think Britain has had a big navy since ever and so it is a tradition that they have a big army and a big navy. I think Britain should continue and enforce its military capabilities together with the USA. Both countries need their forces for their world-wide interventions while the smaller countries in Europe do not have any interests outside of their territory. So most countries in central Europe can disarm. If smaller european countries keep off, the big nations can handle international problems much eeasier. So I think the future problems in the world will be tackled only among the few super-powers and smaller countries can be no help at all. Britain as well as the USA have immense military ressources so that both countries never would need assistance or help from the little nations.

Why not?

Definitely, these 2 new aircraft carriers will be the biggest in Europe, and we need them in this uncertain world. Modern wars tend to be fought far away, and having 2 supercarriers will give us greater ability to fight on distant shores.
