Help answer this question below.
i think so, they are 2 different things.
In Google you look for subjects which may or not be in the internet in an accessible way.
In AB you respond to, and ask, specific questions, that will be seen as they are, questions.
A lot of information found by Google is based on fact, but the type of information you get on AB is based on experience.
WITHIN GOOGLE ONE COULD ASK QUESTIONS ONLY BUT HERE IN AB THERE IS ALSO A CHANCE EVER TO ANSWER THEM!
It's hard to have a conversation with the Google search engine. It may show you other peoples conversation, but it's not the same :)
I googled this question and the answer was, "go ask your mother."
They deffinately two different things.....Answerbag gives you interaction and opinions....not just links
1) Everyone was using Google or another search engine before Answerbag existed. If Answerbag had not fulfilled a need, it could never have stayed so long out there.
2) You could find very good answers by using Google, but not everyone is able to use Google to find the answers they need.
For instance, try to google "If everyone used Google, would there even be a need for Answerbag?" (without quotes) and compare the results to the answers you get on this question. Answerbag should normally help you more.
3) Especially for conversational question, you get on Answerbag a person with whom you can communicate.
Google can only bring you to forum pages where you get this possibility.
4) On Google, you don't get points, levels and badges.
;-)
apples and oranges
No. Many people only know how to ask questions. They MIGHT find an answer on Google, Ask, Bing, or other search engines, but with Answerbag, they can not only get the answer, but get it clarified, if needed.
Sure, those of us who know how to use Google correctly can find a lot of those answers for people, but we can also add our own experiences, those of our friends, people we know, and our opinions to the answers.
Besides, MOST of us were drawn to AB by searching on Google for an answer. We found it, and any discussion out there, and joined because we had other questions, or found we could answer some unanswered questions. That's the purpose of AB - to provide a searchable (internally and via internet search engines) database of questions, answers, and discussions about anything.
So, it's doing it's job, and so is Google, aren't they? :-)
