Do you think cats, dogs pets etc have a like/enjoy music?

My cat loves listening to music. It's the only way I can get her to stop crying when I have to drive her somewhere.

Tarragon The Terrible loves music and will sit close to the speakers whatever is playing. Princess Bonnie only likes easy listening in French.

I have dogs and I ABSOLUTELY believe they enjoy it; assuming it's nothing like heavy metal, acid rock, or "stuff" like that! I think that kind of cocophony is too intense for them. But I play "classical" music, like Beethoven, Chopin, Mozart, etc. and my dogs just lull-off to sleep!

I've heard that dogs like country/western music and cats like classical. There's an old saying that music soothes the savage beast, but I assume they weren't referring to heavy metal or new age stuff.
