Football players.
T & A
A training ground to most snubs. No offense just my own experience.
That's what i've always wondered.
It's such an American thing - it's always in their movies (that, and their frickin proms!).
They take it so seriously, but personally i can't find anything about it to take seriously.
Eye candy for the crowd.
To encourage the crowd to cheer for our team! cheerleader = spirit leader. =]
involving the crowd in the sport. creating lots of noisy support for the team. showing off their own talents.
To make me happy....enough said.
I found this question because I was looking for the answer myself.
I honestly thought for the longest time that cheerleaders existed as a visual reminder to male players that if they win they can have sex with hot girls. Or, the occasional hot guy. Which also explains why cheerleading rarely exists for female sports.
I also know many cheerleaders don't agree with this, but seemingly just because they don't want to be viewed this way, not because they have a better answer. Fans seem to do fine with all the cheering-- if not better. So I have no idea. Maybe some teams have to hire people to cheer for them because no one will for free, so they might as well hire mostly hot, young women.
Which one is harder: softball or competitive cheerleading?
