I'm not a "fan" of Patrick's. Never was, never will be.

The word "fan" is short for "fanatic," and I'm not fanatical, about anyone.

I am an admirer of his many talents, definitely, and very envious of the life he led, however brief it was.

Nowadays, fan has a better connotation than fanatic. It seems that the word now is slanting more to mean an admirer. JMHO. But I appreciate the correction.
