I might if it were legit. I can't say really because I've never had that much money. It might change me into a different person. Right now I say I would; but, I don't know if that would change if the money was actually mine. I don't play the lottery anyway so unless someone gave me a ticket and claimed the prize for me; I don't see that happening.

I would look into it and make sure they weren't trying to pull off a scam, but I would definitely pay the medical bills (directly) for the child. :)

    Certainly.

But I'd rather like to consult with the medical proffessional performing the surger first and get a little proof that said operation really does cost that much, and perhaps meet the child too before just handing them a cheque.

That's a really tough question, depends on the family, the kid, the surgery. You can't just go hand out freebies to everybody, and although I'd feel for the little guy, I'd feel worse that there's another kid I could help that I won't. I'd give more of it to friends, and people who have really meant something in my life. I'd probably keep most of it though.

I would arrange to pay the hospital.
It might cost more than expected.

Yeah why not, it's only a fraction, of course I would make sure this person is legit though.

$100,000 out of a $200,000,000 check is nothing! I'd give MORE than they'd ask for just because I could and would be MORE than happy to do so. Without a doubt, YES.

    Sure I would.

I'd ask them to have the hospital send me the bill though.

I don't want every Tom, Dick and Harry using medical reasons to get some quick cash.

I would - if you can save a life how could you not if you had the means ? anyway $100,000 would be your interest for less than a year ! wouldnt even cost you any of your capital in the end.

I would, if they could prove that the money would go to the surgery and not something else.

This is a more loaded question than you think, guys. So you give $100k to the first legitimate requestor. What about the next one? And the next? Does it stop when you're finally out of money? There are stories of people who are not only broke, but owing hundreds of thousands after lawsuits. As the cliche says, the road to hell is paved with good intentions.

If I ever won that much money, I'd just stop and take a breather. Sure, I'd quit my job! Probably almost immediately (though at this point in time, if I wait a month, I'll get 50% medical for life from the University of California). But I'd have to decide on priorities, and part of that would be resisting the many (not just one) requests for donations. I'm not heartless, and would surely give a lot of money away. But I'd make sure to get the most punch for the dollar.
