    it is very different... people were more able to scrape by durring the great depression because debt was not so great back then. far fewer people lived in apartments and could grow some of their own food. before the great depression home loans ranged from 10-15 years and people would actualy have been paying them off rather than refinancing every chance they got. fabric could be bought cheaply and you could make your own clothes. even the bags your flour came in was a quality fabric.
    now rent is comparatively more expencive than owning a home used to be... 30 years is virtualy the minimum motrgage. people can not afford to live and they can not provide for themselves out of their homes.
    but there is one major difference between this and the great depression... the great depression hit investors first, THEN to working class, this depression hit the working class first and since the people in power do not give a crap about the economic slaves of this nation they still do not realize how bad it is. what they fail to realize is that what has caused this is their flippant treatment of the peasants.
