Most couples don't wait (neither did those who recommend otherwise), and I wouldn't recommend that anyone wait either, because as the Swedish say, "Never marry a 'stranger'." A person's wedding day should NOT be filled with the possibility of an "unpleasant surprise." +5

1) I don't think that most of them make those advices out of personal experience, but rather out of their moral rules that they elaborated with time. Whether they themselves waited or not does not play much a role here. Of course, there could be here and there specific persons among them who do it because they regret not having waited themselves.
