Help answer this question below.
Since digital technology is broken down to "on or off" units, in theory it can be reproduced with complete fidelity an infinite number of times.
There are caveats. For example, in TV an analog signal can produce ok video/sound though somewhat distorted if weak. Digital signals suffer the cliff effect, where a marginal signal shows bizarre pixelizations and is worthless. Digital storage required digital media, which come and go with changing technology; though analog technology suffers similarly (vhs vs beta). Reconstruction of obsolete digital storage would be more difficult.
Digital signals are easier to transmit and offer less room for errors to occur. This leads to accurate data transmission that in turn leads to faster transmission rates and better productivity.
1) Digital signals do not get corrupted by noise etc. You are sending a series of numbers that represent the signal of interest (i.e. audio, video etc.)
2) Digital signals typically use less bandwidth. This is just another way to say you can cram more information (audio, video) into the same space.
3) Digital can be encrypted so that only the intended receiver can decode it (like pay per view video, secure telephone etc.)
There are others, but this is three of the biggies.
None that I know of. Analog phones were better. Digital electronics are not dependable. The advantages are it's cheap, and as for TV signals it takes a lot less bandwidth. Now you can tell me the advantages.
it's a whole lot more sensitive to solar flairs, so, when the next one occurs in 2012, you might not have any digital technologies to worry about any more. i suggest buying one of those rotary dialed phones and stay home and play monopoly with the kids.
I need to study this right now as we speak because I am offering Ditigal TV to my customers by phone. I know that the company offers fiber optic instead of cable messaging, but how it works is still beyond me.
