Do you ever use your oven on a time delay start-eg put the roast in the oven now and set the time to start cooking at 3 pm so it will be done by the time you get home from work?

I wouldn't put a roast in the oven hours and hours early ... not a good idea. But, I have used the delay start for baked potatoes .. or anything that doesn't require refrigeration.

no ... with a gas stove, you really want to confirm that the oven did light, and not just let gas fill the kitchen and then get ignited by a spark and blow up the whole house ... which actually happened to a home in my neighborhood when i was a kid ... a better (and cheaper) way to slow cook that baby in a crock pot for about 6 hours ... have it set to start at noon ... yum yum
