I have five across, none down. 3rd drawer either way is the "Sharps" drawer. All the big knives, the skewers, the crab picks etc. Anything sharp or pokey goes in there.

Ziploc bags, aluminum foil, wax paper, ties and clips for storage bags, a handheld electric mixer and beaters, a cookie press and an icing dispenser.

Hand towels and potholders.

If I had a 3rd drawer, it would probably contain all the socks that I have lost in the laundry over the years.

That's the official "junk" drawer. If I think I might need it someday, but don't know where else to put it, in it goes.

Tea, instant coffee, and some sugar packets.

Third drawer from the left is sandwich bags, small trash bags and pot holders. And a flower shaped flourescent light, in my old house I used it in the hallway as sort of a nightlight but in this house there is no where to put it that the eerie color doesn't bug me. Third from the right is waxed paper, aluminum foil and plastic wrap.

Third drawer down? I've got two of those on the island. One has cookie cutters, biscuit cutters, shapers, that sort of thing. In the other one, it's a huge pots and pans drawer with dutch ovens, baking pans of every shape, a grease separator.

Towels, washrags, place mats and napkins.

The cooking utensils you use only once or twice a year. Melon baller, lemon zester etc.
