All those 4 letter bad words are man made "bad words" that are just slang for something. It would be just same to God if I say "Cool". As long as a Christian doesn't say God or Jesus in a vain way, I don't see why we would be condemned for using them.

For no reason? Why?

Surely if God exists he wouldn't be so precious as to condemn someone for saying a four-letter word, there are far worse human behaviours out there in need of attention!! To answer your question though, I'd think about the context and intent of what you are saying. The words we speak account for a tiny fraction of what is actually communicated to people, so it's more to do with HOW you say it. Given God's all-knowingness you could safely say he can tell the difference between someone being offensive, and someone swearing because they cut their finger. If he were to condemn anyone for the latter, then I'd recommend switching to scientology!

No one should.

Should they? No. Do they? Some already do.

I will see if I can find the verse that I want to give you that talks about this. But no, Christian should not curse. We ought to be godly. To make it simple. Do you think that Jesus would ever curse? I hope that you answered no. But If Jesus lives in us, and our members are his members then what we speak is as if He spoke. Do you think we should defile our mouth by cursing or saying anything vulgar if Christ is in us? Found one. Ephesians 5:3-5 "But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality or of any kind of impurity or of greed, because these are improper for God's holy people. Nor should there be OBSCENITY, FOOLISH TALK OR COARSE [vulgar; obscene; crude] JOKING, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving. For of this you can be sure: No immoral, impure or greedy person - such a man is an idolater - has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God." Hope that answers your question. And God Bless!

Ive been known to say a few "words" and Im a christian. I don't think Christ cares about words. We're human and the words are really made up. Could have been called anything the first time.

Not according to the bible. Ephesians 4:29 says, "Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen." First Peter 3:10 declares, "For, whoever would love life and see good days must keep his tongue from evil and his lips from deceitful speech." James 3:9-12 summarizes the issue: "With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in God's likeness. Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers, this should not be. Can both fresh water and salt water flow from the same spring? My brothers, can a fig tree bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Neither can a salt spring produce fresh water."

i think they probably should say it after all it is the which came from their own culture

Well, when someone knocks over a glass of wine on your lap, it would sound weird to yell "have sex!!" Alternatively, if you slept with someone, it might confuse people if you say "I knew that girl".

I think God is far better capable of prioritizing the human condition than to bother with swear words. If that were the worst of our problems, then we'd be living very charmed lives indeed! I think God cares way more about what is in our hearts than what comes out of our mouths. +5

No. Profanity is wrong even when it does not involve the name of God. God gave humans the gift of language. Language should build relationships with others, and enable people to share their lives intimately with each other. We also hear people use four letter words like f*** to speak profanely about the goodness of human sexuality and the holiness of marital love. Such language is not only negative, vulgar, impolite and offensive, but also debases the dignity of each human being. Moreover, this language reveals not only a person’s bad attitude and lack of respect for others, but also his own immaturity and insecurity in dealing with others. In using these words, the person builds barriers rather than bridges with another person. Take for instance the word Hell. First, no one should make light of Hell, that place of eternal damnation. Yet, people use the word is so many ways today: + In anger, “Go to Hell!” + In surprise, “What the Hell!” + In greeting, “How the hell are you?” + In inquiry, “What the hell are you doing here? Or, “What the hell are you doing?” Not only are do these sayings use poor English; they show a lack of respect for what Hell is. For more information, see the Catechism of the Catholic Church, section 2142 and following: http://www.nccbuscc.org/catechism/text/pt3sect2chpt1art2.shtml With love in Christ.

We know it isnt what we say, but who we are in Jesus. While I believe we cant step away from reading KCUF and knowing what it means, and why there is such a word, and what the other words are that go along with that word. I do believe that I have enough control over my tongue and mind not to verbally say that word. However, given the right set of circumstances, using that word in regular vocabulary isnt as important as expressing Jesus through our daily life and walk.

im sure it wouldn't hurt
