What does "XIII" means in French? it's a number but I don't know what number it is. tnx.

    X = 10 and I = 1 (one). This add together gives 13. (10+1+1+1).

    As someone has pointed out, it is 13. But it's nothing to do with French - they are Roman numerals, used from about 2 millennia ago. And because of this strange system of numbering, the Romans were never good mathematicians.

    Ok - I have been thinking about this, and it's not clear what your question means. If you were asking what the number is in French, then the answer is 'treize', as in 'Louis treize'.

    If you saw the number in the name of a French king, then the Roman numerals are used to give added dignity, as they are with British monarchs and clock faces. :)
