i have an industrial, a tattoo, & i'm a professional piercer.
everybody has a different threshold for pain. it all depends on where you get the piercing/tattoo.
a tattoo can range from barely hurting at all to being terrible.
an industrial usually doesn't hurt too much when you get it, but the soreness will be very bad.
mine was & my clients have told me it was the same for them.
it all depends on how well you handle pain. even so, if you want it, don't let the fear of it hurting stop you. what's a little bit of pain compared to a beutiful piece of body art?
I think it's two different types of pain. A cartilage piercing is sharp and hot pain, that makes a warm dull thudding for awhile, and will be tender with occasional pings of pain for a few days, then just tender if all goes well.
A tattoo is annoying, scratching pain that stops as soon as the tattoo stops, and leaves you with a slight stingy feeling for a few hours at most. Then the worst thing is the itching while it heals. All you can really do is scratch around the tattoo to trick your brain into thinking you've scratched the real itch.
