    There is a great many different ways. too many to list. Best I can do is tell you how to awoid 99% of hackers:

    Do not install 'free stuff' from the internet unless you are really sure the site you download it from is honest.

    Do not open attachments if there is something strange about the email. sender unknown, sender known, but dont write like he usually do, ...

    Do not let a stranger use your computer.

    Dont play internet games that demand you set your security level lower. It is NEVER necessary, unless the game is very badly programmed, or hostile.

    And of course you should keep your antivirus program updated.
