The Greeks developed the basis for modern science, politics and philosphy. The Romans made the same mistakes we seem to be making ... perhaps they can serve as a bad example.
Because these two civilisations are the foundation of the western world. & they're both awesome!!!
Because there are a lot of lessons to be learn there that can have a marked effect on modern day living.
why not, its part of who and how and what have helped forge us to this point in time now...........
Those who do not learn about the mistakes of history are doomed to repeat them.
I had a really terrible history teacher at high school. It was only years later that I discovered that history was populated by real people, and that those people were every bit as intelligent as we are. Many things we take for granted today were invented by these boring stupid cardboard cutout figures
Both countries made excellent contributions to society. Greece was the first real democracy. Rome had a military that was incredible.
Many great philosophers came from both countries. Many of modern names came from both countries mythology. I think it is good for students to study early civilization.
