Expansion. At first there was rapid, exponential expansion (the inflationary era) followed by slower but continued expansion. This is the inescapable conclusion of a century's worth of physical observation and careful reasoning.

I would ask why not ? So much science says it happened, but no one is asking you to 'beleive', just to prove or disprove.
