Try to put your worries aside and act naturally. If you are fearful of being clingy, people will sense it in your demeanor and back away from you (people retreat from signs of negative emotion). Just contact people when you feel like it. If they do not have time to hang or talk, just say, "OK, call me when you have time."

If you have to work that hard to avoid being misunderstood by your group of "friends", maybe they aren't really friend material. Friends are okay with telling you no thanks, if you have asked for more than they can give. You can use this "no thanks" as your indicator that you have asked for a bit too much.

Depends on what kind of people you're talking about. However, it's hard to go wrong if you contact someone and ask them, (emphasis is on "asking") if they feel like doing something! If "YES", when would be a good time, if "NOT NOW", OK maybe some other time, give us a buzz when, if "NO", just forget it. You'll have to use common sense and feel your way through this one.
