Question

Help answer this question below.

I have a 98 ford explorer sport that has a manual transmission. I have had it serviced several times because it is hard to shift. I have had 2 clutch kits, 2 slave cylinders, and a master cylinder replaced. It is still hard to shift. Any ideas?

You mean that it's hard to get the shifter into a gate right? This may not be the clutch then - you could have a bad tranny. Fords usually have good tranny's but there's always that lemon. Have a look at the synchro's, and make sure there is fluid in there. Have you been hard on it? Do the gears grind? Do they fully engage?

Does it happen for all gears or only one? Crappy thing is the only way to really check a tranny is to open er' up and have a look. Unless you have the tools and know-how, it will cost you a minimum of $100CAD to do that at a tranny shop, and then any problems found (I assume you'd want them fixed) will add to that bill.

    Good luck,
    Hope this helps
