Help answer this question below.

I see that Penn Jillette of "Penn & Teller" has red nail polish on one finger nail. Is there a significance to this?

    He has said many times it's kind of a memory thing with his mom.

    When he was starting out in show biz his mother would tell him that he should get a manicure since his hands would be on TV. As a joke, Penn had all his nails painted that red and then showed his mom. Ever since, as some sort of homage to his mother, he's always had that nail painted.

    He doesn't like when people ask about it though, he'll usually tell some sarcastic exaggerated story about killing clowns or such.

    Perhaps it serves to distract the audience when he's performing magic tricks. It's not uncommon for magicians to find little ways to distract the audience when they're performing.

    He's actually part of a group of abnormally large people, like a secret society. I don't know their name, but I've met several other large people with one finger painted with red nail polish.
