They sure did a piss-poor job at Columbine, scared of those 2 kids. But to be afraid of being followed and retaliation, I've seen decent cops and their families try to take a lot of precautions. I've also seen cops with the macho attitude, 'Make my day,' and are waiting for the chance to take them on later. +5

Fear is what keeps the police on their toes.
Always on the defensive.
The police are human just like everyone else.
Being a police officer is a job not everyone is qualified for. there is always danger, but officers learn the safety measures to take, while in and out of uniform.

Yes, that is why where i grew up it takes two officers to handle one traffic stop and they walk to your car with their hand on their gun.
