Make sure you put the belt on correctly,there should be a belt diagram on vehical under the hood.Yes it will go differant ways but there is one correct way.

unless it is a bad bearing on the water pump or compresser or something like that it's just under a lot of stress at that time try spraying it with some belt dressing
