Why do garbage trucks leak? The garbage truck in my neighboorhood always leaks this sort of brownish slimy liquid that really stinks. I was wondering what it is and is it dangerous?

Ewwww, the one around here doesn't, but you might want to call and tell them. I don't think it's dangerous, but the germs and the stench, well, kids play outside, ya know?

I think what you're referring to is - for lack of a better word - garbage discharge. It's an accumulation of liquid that has leaked out of split or partially open garbage bags, and probably isn't the most hygenic or pleasant of substances. I would recommend avoiding it at all costs, or, if possible, hosing it down the drain. Yuck.
