"Crutch" is a perfectly legitimate variant spelling of "crotch". I think the meanings are the same and refer to anything with a basic divided shape - so a person using a support shows that divided shape. The spelling "crotch" was probably invented to avoid the confusion of which you complain. Helpful, but the confusion was there first.
Which is correct grammar - do you put his or him before a verb?

You're reading Does it bother you when people mix up the words "crotch" and "crutch"? It annoys the heck out of me! Especially when someone says that they were kicked in the crutch, that doesn't even make sense!!!
