Don't you think it's kind of pathetic when you see people asking questions like 'could I be pregnant' on AB when there is no way in the world anyone on here could give them a definite answer? Take a pregnancy test!!

Perhaps 'could I be pregnant' is their way of saying 'I need to talk to someone'. That's not pathetic - it's asking for a bit of kindness from a stranger.

Then why not say that? Why not say, 'I think I might be pregnant, have any tips, ways to tell people etc.'? Or they could talk to friends, family, etc.

Some people have a problem asking outright for help/advice or can't/won't talk to their family/parents. Like me....I'm not pregnant but there is something on my mind that I can't share with my family.

Thanks for that bit of kindness. I'm worried about my husband's health and I have to be the strong one right now. I can't unburden myself with my family because they are looking to me to stay strong and are leaning on me.

Thank you Lillian. He has some tests tomorrow that will give us some answers. He had heart surgery in Nov 07 and got a everything is fine from his cardiologist in June....then in Aug his heart started to beat rapidly and irregularly. He may need a pacemaker and he says NO. He almost died in 07 and now - who knows. I don't know if medication will be enough or if I can convince him to get a pacemaker if medication doesn't help.
The kids expect me to 'fix' Dad's stubbornness and he expects me to support his decision. I can't do either right now.

Wow, that is alot, my grandad had the same thing when I was younger then later on had problems but they got him on medicine and he's been fine since, so hopefully it can do the same for him, if not I am sure some people would say the same when faced with the possibility of getting a pacemaker, I'm sure though when it comes down to it he would make the right decision. Sometimes people need a little push in the right direction and you'll probably have to give him one.

I think if it comes down to needing a pacemaker you'll have to sit him down, remind him of what he has to live for and maybe smack him around a little until he realizes it:)

Despite needing to seem strong you really shouldn't keep it bottled up, I know first hand it can get ugly fast:), if you have a friend, family member, I don't know if your religious or not but pastors are really good at listening and they'll keep God out of it if you want them too:)

I can't talk about it to friends....neither of us could handle the stress of them choosing sides. I'm the family 'fixer' - they look to me to fix it. My brothers would listen but they can't help. So I have kept it bottled up.
Your kindness, insights and listening has been helpful.
I convinced him to have surgery and I will convince him to get a pacemaker if he has to. (Positive thinking can't hurt)

That's right, positive thinking can't hurt, and you know you can convince him, it's just a 'grit your teeth and bear it' time in your life, you'll get through it and you will be stronger for it. I can see that your a very strong person and I'm sure your a very good person too, I will definitely be hoping the best for you.

I came on AB to escape my problems and got a much needed and appreciated little push that helped so much. I feel better about dealing with this. The concern remains but the worry is less - if you know what I mean. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
Seeing and answering your question about pregnancy was the highlight of my day.

Sorry, I misread what you wrote. I'm getting a little sleepy - I haven't been sleeping well lately.
It did start because I felt like disagreeing with 'pathetic' but I didn't know it would be so benficial for me.
