You had pair of A's and pair of 8's, with a 3 kicker, he had pair of A's and pair of 2's with 8 kicker, you won, ...best 5 makes a hand, you had the better hand.

    1: A/A 2/2 (k)
    2: A/A 8/8 (3)

    Player 2 should win right?

A8 should have won. No split pot here.

Both of you have a two-pair, Ace which is common in both of your hands but you have a higher second pair- 8. He just got a doos. He could've known it and just split the pot.

Who was dealing? Normally the dealer resolves the disputes and if that's not possible, then the pit boss has the final say. Aces and eights beats aces and dueces hands down. No kicked needed. Think of it as playing five card stud. Your five against his five. The best five card hand wins. You got bullied.
