What!?! You think that politics got dirty when we began the United States? Politics have been corrupt since the first humans began. Politicians are dirty! You want to see a REALLY DIRTY politcian? Look to the Socialists and Communists!

Depends what you mean. Hostility to the interests of the people of the United States is directly written into the U.S. constitution, but that's by design. Gerrymandered districts encourage stability, but also encourages 2-party rule.

every economic system breads those individuals who will take advantage of it for their own pecuniary gain. it's up to the educated voter, in a democracy, to weed out the corrupt politicians.

This to comment Jimmy2060 as I am having trouble posting comments. Thank you Bob. Human beings are corruptible: "to change from good to bad in morals, manners, or actions; also : to degrade with unsound principles or moral values”. However, the United States has had more than it's share of Presidents who believed in the U.S. and put the good of the U.S. above their own personal gains. That in itself is a real anomaly. Now for a little background into my point of view. Korea and Vietnam, during our years of war with them, would take prisoners into a “reeducation” room and tell the prisoner of all the bad things the U.S was doing and had done in the past. Some changed sides and supported the enemy in the prison camps, on TV to us, and after wards. Consequently, the military did a whole lot of research into what made men cross over. Here's something they learned. Men who had no college or higher learning, just went into the military from the farms and such shunned the enemies information. They did not believe it, nor did they want to find out about it. Those men who had higher education, full degrees and University graduates were not impressed about the horrible United States. They had studied it and knew that the U.S has made many mistakes and has had leaders who were less than stellar, but that there was no other country that could make good their claim to be any where as good as the U.S. even in all its badness. Those that changed sides, those who were so horrified by this new information that made them run into the enemies arms were men who had had a little higher education, not a lot. They were usually young, sure of themselves and so disheartened by the stories that they disavowed their country, never finding out the enemies secret. That there isn't a “good” country, government or politician. They are not meant to be. They are meant to be effective.
