Maybe you are where you want to be. Community colleges are an excellent choice for motivated working students. In some locales the classes are completely transferrable to 4-year programs. You can get a degree of some kind after 2 yrs full time study (or 5 years off and on part time). Per-hour cost is usually 1/3 to 1/2 less.

Many people work for a while before going to college. Since colleges these days judge prospective students on so much more than grades, I would think it would be beneficial to be able to include some real-world experience on your college application when you do go. You should be proud of yourself for being so industrious and responsible!

Not if you have high SAT scores. And if you don't, enroll in an open-enrollment community college, maintain a 4.0, then transfer. A "gap" year proves your elegibility for financial aid and the work experience will put you ahead of others who are going right from high school to college. But, keep up your good study habits by reading, writing and attending lectures in your area.
