As a German place name, it's technically "TAL".
However, why bother to be snooty and say "TAL" if you're gonna mispronounce the beginning and say NEE-ANN instead of NAY-AHN? :)
The English variation of pronouncing it is fine unless you're a college professor teaching archaeology.
