I do not think it hurts the prof's credibility. A good professor will encourage discussion and debate in class, and one way of doing that is by sharing personal beliefs and opinions.

I think this proffesor should be investigated by his administration and the police. personal opinions, concerning marijuana, should be just that.......personal and private. In his role as a professor, he should be teaching the courses he was paid to teach, not to further endorse an illegal drug. Someone should file a formal complaint. you are not paying a professor for his personal opinion, concerning illegal pot. This is not why you are in college.

No, I think this is a case of one adult giving his opinion to other adults who are free to evaluate the information as they see fit. If we discredit everyone who disagrees with current public policy, it leaves very few people we give credit to! That being said, it could still get the professor in deep doo-doo with the administration of the college.

Marijuana can be debated in many ways. Many believe I only became illegal because a certain media mogul used it as an excuse for crime rates rising in Louisiana to further his career. Slowly cities across the united states started banning the drug for reasons of rising crime rates. Mayor Laguardia opened an investigation in New York comprising of medical professionals and Law enforcement. they found it had no diverse affect in crime rates. Yet over the years it has become a detested drug. It just goes to show what impact the media has on society. Marijuana has been used as far back as 950 B.C. in China.
