    It depends on the conviction, is contingent upon the evidence used to obtain the conviction, and depends on the preservation of the original evidence gathered during the original investigation of the crime. DNA analysis is the best one in cases where such samples have been gathered and preserved. I would need much more detail to give you a more precise answer.
