No you do not need a visa... you will just sign a visa waiver on the plane giving details of your stay, address and so forth. I believe that lasts for 90 days =)
To get this visa waiver though, you must have already booked your return flight. You say live rather than visit, you are not planning on working during those 4 weeks are you? If so, that changes things.

You're reading I'm a British citizen who would love to live in the US for a few weeks. The reason being is that I have a partner over there that I want to spend some time with, do I have to apply for a visa? I'd like to stay for about 4 weeks?
