  • Site Guideline http://www.answerbag.com/guideline/ "What is considered offensive?" Generally, anything that couldn't be shown on US broadcast television. This was broadcasted in Canada. "How to Roll a Joint by Pierre Berton" http://www.articlesbase.com/videos/5min/8047 This was broadcasted in Toronto. http://www.veoh.com/collection/RipeTV/watch/v16950202zCqbJcyf# I don't think they had the floating bar (over the bare breasts that were being fondled by another woman while they were in the tub) when broadcasted. http://video.google.ca/videosearch?q=city+tv+toronto+bloopers&www_google_domain=www.google.ca&hl=en&emb=0&aq=0&oq=city+TV+toronto#q=city+tv+toronto+topless&hl=en&emb=0 City TV Speakers Corner 07/24/06
  • They are talking about "network TV" (ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX), US-wide, at least, all hours. Yep... FCC standards. If one doesn't live in the US or watch too much TV, you should STILL know the words you don't use in front of kids or "polite company". AB is a "family-friendly" site. Check out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seven_dirty_words for "the words" you can't use. Swear words are not allowed in questions. (No real reason for them, is there?), except I've see "WTF", and occasional words with letters asterisked or dashed out. That doesn't always mean they are allowed. If someone finds the question objectionable, based on those words or not, and a staff mod agrees with them, it will be flagged. In answers, it may also depend on who reads it, and whether they decide to flag it or not, AND whether that flag is accepted by staff mods. In comments, I've seen many words, but at some point, again, usually based on someone's complaint, those comments COULD be edited out of the string. Personally, they don't bother me. But AB is open to people of age 14 and up. Many of THEM will try to use the words JUST to get a rise, and they usually do. Name-calling, calling out other users; and racial, religious, and other epithets are not allowed, either. (Then again, are they really allowed on US network TV, unless it's an historical documentary, or a show dealing with these words?) Again, consider dealing with kids and "polite company".
