No and in spite of the expected down rating we really have never been serious about not having any. We roll debt on to the next generation.
Not while you and I are alive. MAYBE our great-great grandchildren can get out, if we stop stealing their future NOW. But there's no sign of that happening any time soon.
Not while there are rich folks holding tax-free investment bonds on the National Debt- no.
No, the USA will never be out of debt. When it finally is no longer, someone will be left holding the bag.

This country out of debt? In a word NO.

No. We tried to in the 1990's but too many people didn't like it and opted for massive debt in 2000.
No. This country needs to have a certain amount of debt to keep the world economy afloat.
I really doubt that would ever happen.
There's too many "Programs to help people who are lazy" stay lazier. While it may seem "Heartless" to toss them off welfare rolls, they really do need to see they are part of the problem and should be part of the solution.
