  • I never thought I would see this question. LOL Yes, I have tamed a wild turkey. About 5 years ago we had three wild turkeys living in the woods around our home. We have a lot of wildlife show up, but we had never had a turkey, let alone three. I started putting out feed for them. One male in particular starting staying in a tree close to the house. As the weeks went by he became quite bold. And he was quite funny. He treed the neighbors cat, and then ten minutes later he was sitting on the fence next to the cat. I filmed the entire incident. I laugh everytime I see "Frisky" running from the turkey. Anyway, after about 6 weeks, "Mr. Giblet" would come right up to me when I was putting out the feed and even eat from my hand. Sometimes he would follow me when I was out in the yard. I don't know what happened to him for sure but I did hear a horrible fight late one night. Animals were screaming in pain for a prolonged period of time. I am positive there was a death, and I never saw Mr. Giblet after that, or the other two. [EDIT]===================================== Actually he probably tamed himself. I did talk to him and coax him though. I'm probably just attractive to turkeys. :o)
  • Yes, we used to have flocks of turkey all around our house in California and they would often roost in our horse barn and then first thing in the morning attack the hay for breakfast. What a mess! My husband started getting the day old bread from stores and we would open up the barrel we kept it in and they would come running to eat it. They would eat it right out of our hands. But step away from the barn area and they didn't seem to recognize us at all. Then we were back to predator. Then we managed to get some hens for breeding and they settled down nicely.
  • Yes in a way. Me and my friend Bill were driving through Allegheny county, I hit a wild turkey and it bounced off the fender and landed on the other side of the road. It was tamed for good.
