I could say I agree that the girls should be allowed to wear the Headscarf. On the other hand I am not happy with local swimming baths being closed for a day while the Muslim women bathe. Hospital food has to change to suit Muslim people. kindergartens don't have the nativity scene anymore as it offends the Muslims. Raping any woman apart from Muslim is good because they wear clothing attracting rape. Last but not least, I don't like being called an infidel by these people. They say kill infidels. No way. We have to stop this insidious behavior before it takes us all over.

Even in Turkey a Muslim Country , the girls were not allowed to wear the hihab.I believe in France they are banned, at least they were until recently.

As long as all rules are the same for all children. I believe that all schoolchildren should wear a uniform this would stop any arguments about who has money and who has not. Who is in fashion or not and who is what religion..

Christians or atheists have to conform to Islamic law when living in Islamic Countries I believe that all people should conform to the laws of the Country.

If it does not cause any problem wearing the hihab and the girls really want to wear it out of school that is fine. In school stick to the Uniform . I feel that sadly it stops them from integrating.

If people are offended by Christian tradition in Christian countries they should go to Islamic schools .

They should not be allowed to wear them. They come to our country, they abide by our rules. They should wear the full school uniform like everyone else. If they don't like it, then tough.
My friend's a Muslim and she isn't proud of that as the authorities bend over back wards to avoid insulting her people (In her words) so much so it breeds hatred in other people.
I could go on for ages about the level of PCism in this country, but my girlfriend wont let me because it gets me all angry for ages.

When I was in school we got detention for wearing a hat in class.
I don't see why some should be punished and some should not.

I think treating them differently just because of their religion would be racist, so they have no choice but to ban them.

Some schools have a school uniform, others have a sort of dress code. In such cases they have the right to enforce that on all students.

If it is school policy and it applies to everyone then I do not see a problem with it. If there are enough who want their children to wear this then they can set up a school where the policy covers it. There are many alternative schools.

I don't think it's insulting or outrageous, but I do think that not allowing harmless forms of expression is unconstitutional (in the U.S.) and also generally a bad thing for a government to do.

I think it IS horrific, insulting, outrageous, and other expletives I won't spell out if this just targets Muslims. For instance, if they also Christians they couldn't wear crucifixes or crosses and Jews they couldn't wear yamakas (sp?), and generally disallowed any form of religious expression regardless of the religion in the schools, I would think it would be "okay" - bad but "okay". At least then, it wouldn't single out one religion. They do this in France. I'm not really a fan, but it's better than singling out one religion for discrimination.

I am violently opposed to pushing religious or even spiritual agendas or beliefs on students in public schools, but that doesn't mean, on the flip side, that the students shouldn't be allowed to fully express their religious beliefs, including with headscarves and skullcaps and crosses and praying during free periods or lunch, on their own or with others in the class who share their beliefs.

Rules should be equal, regardless of religion.
Since we communicate a lot with our faces; hats, headscarfs and sunglasses should always be forbidden IN CASE they cover our faces.

Regardless, we should either agree everyone (man or woman) can wear a headscarf, or no one at all.
We cannot make exceptions for religions.
It would priviledge Muslims to wear scarfs because of their religion, and forbid a girl who lost her hair due to cancer to wear one.

Also, if religions are an exception to the rule, PREPARE FOR NUDISTS TO JOIN THE CLASS NAKED.
In fact, we should respect EVERYONES personal believes then, and not only those who are joined in a religion. Even allowing swastika's...
So it's a good thing schools draw the line somewhere, don't you thnk? If that doesn't happen to suit your personal style, to bad; go to another school.
And if your religion is that important, you wouldn't even mind relocating as a last resort.

A nudist might feel insulted he cannot join class naked, and you might be insulted not being allowed to wear a headscarf.
But I can assure you, even if you are the most peace loving women on the planet; wearing a headscarf after 9/11 can be just as insulting and provocative as sporting swatika's in a synagoge...

Thanks for asking my view; this is it.

What is their policy on Jewish boys wearing Yarmulkes? (Or any other form of religious dress?)

If they are prohibiting ALL of them, then it is fair (although IMO, not right).

I don't see the reason behind this.

Muslim people and any other people can do what they feel is right after all as long as they do as they please but don't impose on me and other people. And if the women there want to wear it then so be it but if others don't they shouldn't get punished for it.
