One word: furloughs.
Yes. We are on a pay rate freeze for 1 year.
totally screwed.
What pay raise?
payraise? yes, the owners said there wouldnt be a pay raise this year. they were keeping the fifty cent increase. then the owners said there would be a five percent cut. most of the managers complained out loud. no increase and a cut. then the owners fired all the part time people so the managers would appreciate their jobs. i got fired. meanwhile the owners increased the cost of services by eight percent for everyone. and added more money to required fees that dont mean anything.
Well, yes it did.
I was making $10.10 an hour, and that results in about $313 a week net.
Now I'm unemployed (Lay off and living easy!) and I make $347 a week, minus $13 a week in taxes.
So, I got a raise, by losing my job!!!
There has been no pay raise. However, that is not entirely a bad thing. When inflation ran at over 14% under Jimmy Carter (before the grand recovery of Reagonomics) you HAD to get pay raises just to stay in one place. Now you can get by without them until you are in a position to renegotiate or look elsewhere.
Yes it has seriously effected both my wife and myself.
(Insert "stimulus bill" insult here)
I'll find out in a few weeks. The last coworker that got his annual review said that it was only a MAXIMUM of 1.5% increase, whereas the past years it has been AT LEAST 3-5%.
