I doubt it. Have you ever seen the way the bags are handled after they are checked in? They are flung all over the place. Your painting would probably be in pieces by the time it reaches it's destination.

I'm trying to figure out a way to get it there. Maybe I'll just take the canvas with and buy a frame there and frame it there. It's a gift.

That sounds like a better idea, either that or you can check it in as fragile but I still wouldn't be totally confident and it would probably cost a bit more. Good luck :)
