Walmart is a big chain, they sell clothing, housewares, electronics, many (very few in my area) are grocery stores as well. Just about everything they sell is cheaply made bottom of the barrel junk that was made in China or wherever, that they get cheap and sell cheap. They put small businesses that sell quality stuff out of business because people care less about quality than they do about saving a buck here & there. They don't treat their employees well. But as long as people care more about convenience and saving money than any of that, they will thrive.
Wal Mart critics are simply hypocrites. They slam wal mart for paying the help cheaply (though all retail is lower wage), for putting mom & pop merchants out of business, etc. Yet, those same critics will shop there to save money. Therefore, it is the consumers' actual fault, by making their decisions where to shop, that independent retailers lose out. Wal mart haters, put your money where your mouth is. Retail is highly competitive, and a retailer cannot survive without willing customers.
just because and we have noththinck better to do
Walmart promotes slave labour in developing countries by making sure inferior products are sold a rock bottom prices.Children that should be in school are working countless hours in unsafe factories. Also their own employees are working at low wages with no benefits, and women are never promoted as men are. They make sure the suppliers are selling their products with little profit of their own. They force their way into towns and cities that do not want them, put the locals out of business, then shut down because they are not making enough profit. That is why most major cities will not allow them in.Only the suburbs allow them. All in all they are non ethical.
Typically it is about how the company treats its employees. Also there is a resentment of how when a Walmart moves to town, it usually forever changes the scene (running out small businesses and/or incresing gentrification).
