Electricity has always existed, just not recognizable AS electricity (i.e. lightning, electric eels, static electricity, etc...) in the days when science was in its infancy. Volta, in the late 1700s-early 1800s, did a lot of work on the existance and production of electricity, He was also the first person to create a (crude) battery.

God actually created it w/lightning... but as far as ac current and dc current? AC current is what runs in ur household and Nikola Tesla invented it and Edison stole it from him. Edison wanted to power homes with DC power and it was highly inefficient and expensive.

You don't invent electricity you discover it for one. William Gilbert coined the term electric as an attraction between positive and negative. Benjamin Franklin made the connection between electricity and lightning.

Edison, Tesla, and Westinghouse made the most advancements with electricity. They developed the science surrounding electricity that we know today.
