Question

Help answer this question below.

My 1991 Nissan Pathfinder has lost all compression on one side of the engine (cylinders 2, 4 and 6). I've changed the head gasket. What else could cause this?

Piston rings, although I've never heard of 3 cylinders being compromised at the same time. The fact that it's half of the engine boggles my mind.

    Check:
    - Spark plugs, wires, distributor
    - Fuel INjectors
    - Gasket seal

Also, you can remove the spark plug with the engine off, take a clean stick (don't use cotton or anything that can be left behind in the cylinder) and gently, slowly dip it into the cyliner until it stops. Then take it back out and see if there's any oil on it. If there is, it's definitely the piston rings.

This is definitely something to take to a mechanic since without seeing it, I can only guess.

    Best of luck
