    Depends on where you live. If you're in America, buying an American built car may help the economy.

    OTOH, I don't know what your finances can afford.

    I'd say any good mileage used car, one with medium mileage on it and a good service record of being taken care of should suffice, say until you can afford one of the new high-breds or electric cars which is inevitable.
