Even though I was not considered a "picky eater", there were several foods that I didn't care for as a child. Among them were ham (seemingly much more salty back then), Campbell's canned mushroom soup, fried eggplant, squash and turnips. My early childhood was during the Second World War, so it was common to hear Mom lecture at the dinner table with a "Don't complain, Charles, there are many children starving in Europe today." I was smart enough not to respond with "Well, Mom, you can send this over to them!", since such would have brought about a sharp smack across my mouth. [We had no 911 or Child Protective Services back then! :-)] +5, Chief
