No. Vegans technically do not consume any products of an animal or insect, although some people who call themselves vegans do. I don't know if vegetarian would be entirely appropriate, but still not entirely vegan.

- Honeycomb I can understand as the wax is secreted by the bees, but the honey is purely plant material which is only processed by the bees.

Technically not. However, I consider myself a vegan and I do eat honey-traces in certain products. I wouldn't like buy a jar of honey, but honestly I don't care about small traces of honey in my food. The biological evidence suggests with very high likelihood that bees cannot feel pain. So eating honey most likely doesn't cause suffering. Since I can't be perfectly sure about it, I don't buy jars of honey as I said, but avoiding it in all kinds of stuff (it's surprising in how many foods ppl put honey) is too much work for me to bother. I'm a vegan for utilitarian reasons, not esoteric or deontological ones. So it's about suffering to me.

And if some vegans say I'm 'not a real vegan', then who cares, I think I can call myself that, but if they disagree, oh well, I'm not a purist about these kinds of labels. What matters is the outcome, not a label.
