I bought four parakeeys fron a lady, two of them being white with some blue on their bellies and another blue. Now, after a couple of weeks, three of them are growing green feathers on their necks and a little on the tops of their heads. What should I do?

They are just growing into their adult plumage. There is often a bit of color change until the bird matures. So just take care of them and enjoy your new pets. Now, if you bought them as specifically certain colors and the person said they were those colors, assuming she knows the genetics and breeding of the birds, you could take them back and maybe get some recourse.

Well, painting them is out of the question. I'm afraid you'll just have to learn to like the colours if these birds were bought as juveniles. Some species will undergo a colour change. It's natural.

1.) Know that you spell parakeets wrongs. LOL!! I'm teasing.

2.) Take them to the Vet & see what the real problem is OR you could always find the lady & get your refund.

  • Two weeks ago we bought four parakeets at a carnival. The lady said that the coloring of their feathers shouldn't change, but now my two white parakeets and blue parakeet are showing some green on their necks and head. What should I do? Is it the food?
